Today I received the Advanced copy of Vanessa Williams New Outing, and I must tell you… Pure Sweetness!!!

“The Real Thing” will be Vanessa’s 13th album (her first for Concord Records) and features two original Babyface written & produced tracks; “Breathless” and “Just Friends”.

Now talk about a classy vocalist… Not TO mention, she is “easy on the eyes”. I just get lost in her music. It’s almost like her vocals wrap you up securely like your favorite comfy blanket. Close your eyes and imagine in your mind’s eye slowly sippin’ on a glass of wine, lying on your soft couch in front of a fireplace after a hard day at the office. Kick your feet up and let Vanessa take all your blues away. I mean, she has away of musically elevating that feelin’ of being in a cozy / safe place.

The Music and production is definitely first class and uptown. The arrangements are in the vein of another Diva and Classy Lady, the wonderful Anita Baker. Her vibe is so relaxed and very smooth. Her singing is not forced. You don’t get the feel that she is trying to sell a zillion records; she really puts herself in it. Of course this comes w/ her years of hard work and real life experiences.

Vanessa totally hits the nail on the head when she says; The Real Thing is "a potpourri of breezy Latin rhythms, sultry jazz standards and dreamy pop sketches," and delves into the sophisticated pop and R&B that have been the hallmark of her dynamic musical career.

Favorite stand out tracks: I Fell In, The Real Thing, Lazy Afternoon, Close to You. I give this wonderful CD 5 STARZ.
