Nicki Gonzalez Moron Love

Nicki Gonzalez Moron Love

I received Nicki’s New CD today and I was really intrigued with her artwork/photo on the cover. I think the CD cover has a much deeper meaning then it makes out to be at first glance.

I remember being a little kid seeing my mother’s art work in her gossip / homemaking magazines, etc. Yes, I guess you could call her one of those compulsive doodlers. You know… A closet graffiti artist… LOL!!! And the name of Miss Gonzales’ NEW album “Moron Love” fits this title perfectly… Because, as we know… “Love” has many faces… Remember, we are just actors upon a stage. That said ….

Now that I have listened to this CD a few times, I’m totally enthralled w/ Nicki’s Music. She has strong song writing and arranging capabilities. Her lyrical content and vocals are top-notch. Best I’ve heard in awhile. Each song on this assemblage of musical magic has its own groove and vibe. The songs are organic but have “pop” sensibilities. I have never heard of Nicki Gonzales until now… I can say this much… I’m now a fan! Her 2nd song “Superstar” really captured that free high-flying youthful spirit that a great “pop” song will give you. I mean, the tune really carries you and there are some brilliant moments that make your hair stand up on the back of my neck…. Song 3 – “Leave” - Wow! This song is so tight with the percussion and horn arrangements. This one has a Huey Lewis and the Newz type feel w/ the big band and horn section.. Song 7 – “After Tonite’” caught my ear as one that I really enjoyed… The tune takes you a nice little journey with its fine wheeling arrangements. The musicianship and mastering of this fine composition has really captured Nicki’s channel. These folks really know how to put together a thought provoking, group effort of impressive melodies. Song 9 – “Insomniac” ends our musical journey in impressive fashion. This lady has awesome vocal range and her vibrant singing will most likely take her to places she still hasn’t even imagined.

I truly give this Album 2 thumbs up / 5 STARZ. I promise as soon as I hear an Album that’s less then a“5” rating, I will definitely rate as such. However, the albums I’ve been listening to lately have all been “diamonds in the ruff” so to speak. This pop/rock music is not to be missed!!!
