Hi Fellow Guitarist,

I'm Ronnie Rokk from various websites all over the internet. Maybe you've heard of me, maybe you haven't.

I'm A guitarist as well as: bass player, drummer, keyboardist, singer, song writer, video maker, and now on my way to making movies.

Anyways, I'm writing this article, because my good friend Scott (A.K.A. Riffmaster) asked me to drop by Guitarz Forever and let you in on some of the techniques and things that use.

"For starters lets talk about some really cool gear out there that you may have heard of or you may have not. "

"These days everyone want a pro sound but doesn't want to spend the big bucks, because quite frankly not everyone has the big bucks right!"

So I'll be sharing a few things that I recommend for getting a pro sound and not losing and arm and a leg to get it :-)

First thing though, you have to have a good guitar, if you're gonna be playing live that is. You don't want some cheap pawn shop guitar with cheap pickups where all you'll be getting is feedback all night long during the gig. So do your home work on that end.

Now I'm assuming you now have a decent guitar so lets look at some amps!

Everyone's got their favorite type of stack and here's mine.

Crate GT1200 Full Stack with GT1200H Head and Two G412 Cabinets $699.00

Crate GT1200H/G412 Full-Stack Package

Crate GT1200H/G412 Full-Stack Package

The head:120W RMS compact guitar head features FlexWave Evolution 5 preamp for great tube tone and feel. 3 switchable channels (with included footswitch) let you set up for the gig. It also features spring reverb for authentic super lead sound. There's an effects loop for your externals and dual RCA CD inputs for keeping the animals happy during breaks. The cabs:100W RMS handling. Slant-front and straight cabs feature heavy-duty construction with metal grille. Dual 1/4" input jacks. 27"W x 27"H x 14"D, 54 lbs. (each).

A very good deal for this rig.

"I know, I know! Hey man that's big bucks for some of you right!

Ok so here is an alternative for just $99.99 Guitar Port

WOW! you just saved $600.00 bucks.

And guess what if you record with your computer, your all set to go, all you need is a USB port.

Here is a little more info. about The Guitar Port found on another website.

Line 6 GuitarPort RiffTracker

What is GuitarPort?

GuitarPort is an entirely new musical experience designed for all electric guitar players. It brings Line 6's revolutionary guitar amp and effects modeling technology to your personal computer for an amazingly low price. Select from ten classic amp models, connect up any speaker cabinet model you want, throw on some effects (like a compressor, flanger, chorus, tremolo, delay, rotary speaker and reverb), and play. GuitarPort's modeling gives you the tone of an amazing arsenal of amps and effects, perfectly mic'ed in a great studio, all within your computer.

Along with a huge range of killer tones, GuitarPort incorporates an audio player that allows you to jam along with CDs and MP3s, loop any section you choose, and even slow down songs without changing pitch. Other features include a built-in guitar tuner, a noise gate, and an intelligent hum reducer that "learns" the hum of your particular setup.

GuitarPort is also the portal to a world of guitar experience through the internet, with our optional GuitarPort Online service (more on that later!).

How does it work?

GuitarPort is a unique combination of hardware and software that work together to become the ultimate guitar experience on a computer. Setup is simple: Plug your guitar into the GuitarPort, plug the GuitarPort into your PC's USB port, plug the GuitarPort into some speakers or headphones, and you're ready to rock. The GuitarPort gets its power from your computer's USB port, so there's no additional power cord or wall wart.

From the software, you select and control every aspect of your tone, your audio player, and GuitarPort Online. If you've got more than one computer, you can install the software on each of them and then just plug the GuitarPort's USB cable into whichever one you want to use.

How does it sound?

In a word, unbelievable! Line 6 invented modeling guitar amps five years ago, and we've never stopped perfecting this technology. Line 6's modeling amps and POD direct guitar recording devices have been used on countless hit recordings and by hundreds of thousands of guitarists the world over. The evolution of this modeling legacy is all brought to GuitarPort. And despite its price, GuitarPort doesn't compromise on audio quality. The latest generation 24-bit converters are used, and all of the DSP is 32-bit floating point. GuitarPort includes carefully crafted models based on exhaustive studies of the following eight classic amps (and their speaker cabinets):

1953 Fender Deluxe (wide panel) 1959 Fender Bassman 4x10 1964 Fender Deluxe 1967 Vox AC30 Top Boost 1968 Marshall Plexi 50 Watt 1983 Marshall JCM-800 1987 Roland JC-120 1994 Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier

Plus, there's also a classic amplified Fuzz Box tone, and a completely over the top high gain amp we call Line 6 Insane.

NOTE: The amplifier names listed above are all trademarks of their respective owners, which are in no way associated or affiliated with Line 6. These trademarks of other manufacturers are used solely to identify the specific amplifiers that were studied during Line 6's sound model development.

What's the big black knob for?

It's a good old-fashioned volume control.

"So I hope this article helps you out a bit to be able to get a big sound on a low budget"

If requested, I will submit more articles such as these to Guitarz Forever.Com.

Until We Meet Again!

Always Remember, To Keep Your Rock Hard! (Rokk Motto 2004)

Sincerely,

Ronnie Rokk
