Guitarist Tim Gibson

Guitarist Tim Gibson
Hey y’all, I hope this artist page finds you well. I’ve been slowly picking up steam working with artist Tim Gibson on his new promo campaigns. Tim is a very gifted musician and guitar player and I bet my bottom dollar you are going to be hearing more from this impressive guitarist for years to come
If you don’t believe me, see what Korn’s guitarist says: “He serves up some musical sushi with a massive dose of wasabi-like technical skills containing enough kick to make even some of the most versed shredders stop what they are doing and tip back a lager or two. (MMM...sushi!!) Anyways, keep an eye on this one." – Touring guitarist for Virgin Records recording artist Korn Shane Gibson
There are a couple of kick-axe music clips on Tim’s MySpace page that I have reviewed. Go to the speed demons site: Tim's MySpace Page for a listen and I believe you will concur with me that he’s got the goods and will deliver a plethora of colorful musical-notes when needed. Read On…
Song 1 Review:
After The Calm – Shoots out of the speakers in a galloping stride. Tim Gibson’s cries and wahs are enough to make any Michael Shenker or Uli Roth fan just foam at the mouth for more ero-assult with the guitarz. I love the drums on this… they sound live and the neo-grooves are well put together. The bass player just pounds out one crushing riff after another. Thump! Thump! Thump! Oh yeah! This young guitar lion has phenomenal speed with influences from Mr. Scary (George Lynch) to Michael Batio. One word that keeps flashing in my minds eye is “EPIC”. Tim wastes no mercy on flimsy writing and arranging. He goes full throttle, never taking his foot of the floor!
Tim Gibson's Neo Classical Guitar Shred and magnificent ear-splitting guitar playing blends dark, complex, yet appealing thematic writing and arranging. Tim gives you mega-heavy, earth-crushing riffs, thoughtfully structured, harmonized solos, and neo-classical phrasing.
Song 2 Review:
War Within - Wow! I remember going to a Pink Floyd - Spectacular Laser Light Show at the famous Hayden Planetarium in N.Y.C. where you get to sit in a tilted back comfy chair with speakers contoured ergonomically to each ear. You look up and you see the night stars come into view and slowly the stars start moving. As the sky rotates faster it evokes those feelings of falling forward. It’s really neat how the motion of the stars in space creates the physical illusion of really floating and pulling some G-Force. This is exactly what this song does to me here. The beautiful orchestrated music has me suspended in the darkness of space, and then a comet luminously shoots by me. The blinding fury of its long trail leaves me spinning, and whirling out of control. Tim’s mind blowing arpeggiated lead guitar playing is the fuel that propels this screamin’ molten mass of ice through space. I guess what I’m saying is that Tim’s writing and arranging are out of this world. His music is heading to unknown boundaries at the speed of light.
Influenced by greats such as Jason Becker, Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert, Greg Howe, Joe Stump, Shawn Lane, Michael Angelo Batio, Andy Timmons, Dream Theater, Tom Hess, George Bellas, Rusty Cooley and others, Tim stands alongside these greats with his dazzling guitar work. A heavy metallic edge dominates each cut off his MySpace page and screams with ferocity. These tracks offer an introduction to his frightening guitar technique and playing.
Born in South Korea, and now currently living in Milwaukee, WI. The young-gun is always learning and honing in his progressive guitar skills. Shred guitar virtuoso Tim Gibson discovered his father’s acoustic guitar at the age of fourteen and from that point on has never looked back. He would spend countless hours in his room learning cd’s given to him by his older brother by ear. He would soon receive his first electric guitar a few months later. At an early age virtuoso guitar players captivated him, but he struggled to find any teachers capable of teaching him in that style so he decided to study on his own.
The summer before his senior year Tim was given the opportunity to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston and study under legendary shred guitarist Joe Stump. While spending time with Joe, Tim realized what a great teacher could offer to the development of a player. So, he searched for teachers in the Midwest he could study with. Soon after, Tim got in touch with virtuoso guitar master Tom Hess.
"When Tim Gibson first came to me as a student, I could see right away enormous potential. Tim had the mental discipline that most people just simply don't have. It was immediately evident that Gibson was highly "left brain" intelligent, as well as very highly "right brain" creative. This is very rare, as most people generally are strong, in one area or another. Tim has evolved so fast, and so powerfully that it became obvious I was dealing now with a colleague, not a mere student. Today, Tim Gibson is truly a powerful new force in the domain of world-class virtuoso guitarists and guitarist composers” - Magic Circle Music recording artist – Tom Hess (Holy Hell)
While studying with Tom Hess, Tim began to develop at a fast rate both technically and musically. During his senior year he taught guitar lessons to several students and gave a guitar clinic to his high school. After graduating, Tim began to work on some instructional products with Tom Hess as well as continue to teach students from all over Wisconsin. Some students drive several hours to take long lessons from him.
Additionally, having played for over seven years, Tim’s talent extends itself outside the recording studio as he has instructional guitar articles on shredacademy.com, chopsfromhell.com and guitarz-for-ever.com.
During the summer of 2006, Tim was offered the touring guitar position for Century Media recording artists Vital Remains. He also wrote instructional articles for several guitar related websites, and co –authored an instructional e-book called “The Next Step” and will be featured on a compilation disc put together by Tom Hess.

"Stretch the boundaries, try new things you've never heard and ignore everyone.
Push it! And I mean really! Your obvious passion, devotion and self-discipline
are a recipe for longevity and mastery of the art."- Lion Music recording artist George Bellas
Tim’s music is enticing, offering listeners an eclectic range of sounds and experimentation, as he plays with modal progressions and odd time signatures. His guitar riffs are powerful yet clean, thoughtful yet unrestrained. Listening to Tim, you are sure to embark on an emotional rollercoaster, as his sound incorporates a vast range of feeling.
In early 2007, being only 20, Tim was offered a teaching position at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. This speaks volumes on how people view his musical skills. To date, Tim has been regularly doing clinics throughout Wisconsin. Tim is currently working on instructional DVD’s, and getting endorsement deals.
"Very impressive playing! Solid shred technique. Good luck with your new recording project... I'll be very interested to hear it when it's ready." - Hal Leonard author Troy Stetina
Currently working on album for Unicorn Records recording artists Hybrid Effect and finishing his solo album.
