Guitarist Fred Hamm

I was going through MySpace the other day when I came across this guy Fred Hamm. I listened to a bunch of his tracks... and really liked what I heard. His instrumental compositions are not any ol' standardz either. I really dig the arrangements and what he has going on sonically with the guitar... this ain't all 4/4 stuff. A lot of original ideas, beats, licks, phrasing and you name it. Fred's music is very dynamic yet easy to listen to. Lastly, Fred's guitar playing excites you and dazzles your ears. I can DIG IT!

When he was young Fred Hamm listened to several diverse musical styles and was passionate for all kinds of musical genre's including; Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Led Zeppelin!! It was Joe Satriani's rock that give him the desire for learning the guitar at the age of 15 . Fred was a student at the National Music Academy of Nice (French Riviera) and studied in Musicology, he studied the jazz, the harmony, the composition and the improvisation.

Since 1997, Fred Hamm regularly occurred on several musical scenes of the area in order to promote his first demo Cd called "7th Heaven".

In 1999 Fred meets prestigious bassist Pascal Mulot (Best European Bass player of the year 2003) and records six months later with him on Fred's solo cd "Aquarius Dreams", published in December 2000 (a jazz fusion, progressive rock and metal album)! Other famous musicians take part in this project such as Doudou Weiss (drummer with Johnny Hallyday, Magma and Gilles Choir who played with Toto). Lastly, the mixing was made by the fabulous Steve Prestage, sound engineer of Peter Gabriel, Gary Moore, Black Sabbath, Gerald de Palmas and Patrick Rondat! With his group, Fred Hamm takes part in Midem of Cannes in 2001 and 2002 along with many other radio concerts and interviews.

After these musical adventures, Fred Hamm continues to progress and develop as a guitarist and musician!! He carries out various musical projects in parallel. Following all these experiments, Fred Hamm is not just a simple basic guitarist, but rather a complete musician with multiple facets in musicology. In partnership with the radio stations and the other media's Fred began the promotion of a new album and starts to occur on scene with his group .

In October 2004, Fred Hamm plays in Cannes with the band "FILLET OF SOUL" an electro jazz project of DJ CAM.
At the time of this concert he played with the talented keyboards player LAURENT DE WILDE which agrees to take part in a jam session on "TEST".

In July 27, 2005, Fred Hamm's band Electro Groove takes part in the biggest European festival "The NICE JAZZ FESTIVAL" for the "HAPPY END's" night (with Calogero, Emilie Simon, Zenzile, Republic of Loose, L2W and THE FILM)

Or if you need something short :

THE "AQUARIUS DREAMS" ALBUM: French guitarist Fred Hamm's 2,000 solo instrumental CD, Aquarius Dreams blends hard rock and progressive rock influences with a strong sense of melody as well as shades of Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Ron Thal. Featured are world renowned bassist Pascal Mulot (voted best fusion bass player in 2003). and drummer's Doudou Weiss and Gilles Choir (official demonstrator for Zildjian and Pearl). With a fusion of rock, jazz, metal and progressive all tracks are heavily guitar dominated reminiscent of the great Joe Satriani and Stuart Hamm collaborations. The song "Aquarius" is moreover dedicated to Satriani. Aquarius Dreams has remarkable energy and many fragments such as "Song For The Natives" blends rock 'n' roll with samples added to embellish the melody.
