Well... I was checking out MySpace.com when I came across this guy Bumblefoot. Started listening to his music and was instantly a fan. Wow! Mezmerizing and dazzling are words that come to mind. So I emailed him and asked if I could do a feature. I really didn't think I would get an email back... Sho 'nuff, he emails me back and says "Yooooooooo! Sure bro, let's do it - thanks so much! So please let me turn you on to my man BumbleFoot...
Ron Thal (Born September 1969 in Brooklyn New York City, NY), also known as Bumblefoot is a guitarist and a composer. Noted for both his sense of musical fusion and his bizarre stage antics, he has been called the heavy metal version of Frank Zappa. Not only known as a musician, he has also produced albums for many artists in different musical genres. Currently, he plays guitar for Guns N' Roses.
Bumblefoot got his name from a custom guitar he owns, which is shaped like a foot, is painted like a bumble bee, and has decorative wings that extend from the body when activated by the whammy bar.
Bumblefoot says that the first five KISS albums, the Manowar album Battle Hymns, and any of The Beatles' albums had the greatest impact on him when he was younger.
On May 12th, 2006 Bumblefoot was confirmed as the new lead guitarist for the hard rock band Guns N' Roses at their concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, taking over the position formerly occupied by Buckethead from 2000 to 2004. Prior to the show he had rehearsed with the band only about a week and was still learning the songs minutes before the show started. During the European tour he has been playing a special instrumental version of Don't Cry as part of his guitar solo.
