Guitarist Desiree Bassett

Scott - Hi Desiree', thank you for agreeing to do an interview w/ my website Guitarz Forever.com ... Give our readers a short but descriptive label for your style of music.

Desiree' - My music is a combination of rock/blues/modern rock/pop.

Scott - I see you have jammed with some high profile and legendary guitar players. Can you give us some names.

Desiree' - Ted Nugent, Sammy Hagar, Marshall Tucker, Foghat, Barry Goudreau, and many more

Scott - What was it like playing along with them and at that level of talent?

Desiree' - At the time of meeting them, it just blows my mind to even meet them, but when we play together on stage, it just feels so mutual, a very strong musical connection. It's like I just forget that there's people in front of me or that I'm playing along side with someone of high profile because I'm just having so much fun and feeling the music so much that I just get lost in where I am actually standing, it just feels so natural to be connecting with everyone on such a strong musical and emotional level.

Scott - Where do you live, play live, and  record?

Desiree' - I live in Meriden, CT. I've been playing locally around CT, sometimes in MA and do small international tours on and off whenever/wherever needed. I currently just record at home and write and produce my own music.

Scott - Are there a lot of places to play your style of music in and around your area? If so, could you name some venues?

Desiree' - To be honest, there aren't really a ton of music like my style that play out around Connecticut, especially around my age. It seems to be a dying industry except for selected genres of music, mostly because a lot of places either close or are very particular with what they want and how much they pay. Not a lot of places want original bands either so much as they want cover bands. It's extremely difficult to make a reputable name in this area.

Scott - How many albums do you have out? Names and where to buy?

Desiree' - I currently have 3 albums out, all of which you can purchase on my website http://desiree-bassett.squarespace.com/ or you can download on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, CDBaby and more.

Scott - Who were your major influences?

Desiree' - My influences are Joe Satriani, Jeff Beck, Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, and Rik Emment from Triumph.

Scott - Guitar and Rig set-up? Any endorsements?

Desiree' - My main guitars I play are my Paul Reid Smith Custom 24, Gibson SG and my Ernie Ball Musician JP6. The amp I play through is a Marshall JVM410H and I have a pedal board set up with an ISP Noise Reduction Pedal, OCD Overdrive, Boss Chorus, Digitech Drop Tune, Ibanez Tube Screamer, Protone Mark Holocomb Edition Delay, Zak Wylde Wah, and a Boss Tuner. My current full endorsements are D'Addario/Planet Waves.

Scott - What are you listening to these days?

Desiree' - I listen to A LOT of metal (Killswitch Engage being a big time favorite band), modern rock, classic rock, Michael Jackson, and a lot of EDM.

Scott - I also don't want to forget this... Tell us about any other things you may be in involved in or any special interest besides music that is close to your heart?

Desiree' - I do a lot of arts and crafts at home such as making my own boots/sneakers and belts for my own costume pieces. I am a huge fan of dirt biking a lot when there is enough free time.

Scott - Desiree', I would like to thank you for your time and candor with our loyal readers and keep on fighting the good fight to bring us some awesome music.

Desiree' - Thank you so much for having me, it is a pleasure!!
